Message From The Principal
Hello and welcome to our school's webpage. My name is Angela Brunson and I am the new principal of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic School. I have taught at St. Teresa School since 2011 and I have been a member of St. Teresa Parish my entire life. This fall I will begin my graduate work through Loyola Marymount University for Administration in Catholic Schools. I would like to thank everyone for the wonderful words and acts of support and encouragement I have received so far. I have felt very welcome in my new position.
I would like to take a few moments of your time today to invite you to consider St. Teresa school for the children in your life. Your children, your grandchildren, your nieces and nephews, all children from 6weeks of age to 8th grade. We want them all in our school and daycare. Not because we do not think there’s value in a public school education. We have the highest respect for the public schools and we know they do a wonderful job. They are some of our biggest supporters, generously donating materials and extending professional assistance and support to us on a regular basis and we greatly appreciate their kindness. I am inviting you to Catholic Education because I truly believe most of the problems in today’s world stem from people not developing a relationship with Christ. From people not knowing Christ or having false illusions about what it is that we are called to do as followers of Christ. My goal as principal is to provide students with every opportunity to develop a relationship with the Holy Trinity and learn the values of the Catholic Church. Our goal as a school is to prioritize the spiritual well being of our students above all else. This is the biggest difference of a Catholic Education. We value religious education as highly as we value reading, writing, and arithmetic. We regard our student’s ability to love all living things as highly as we regard their ability to dribble a ball, paint a picture, build a robot, or write a beautiful poem. We do this by infusing Christ’s values into all parts of our curriculum. We do this by taking every step to ensure our students are in a safe environment and surrounded only by adults who have been trained and certified to provide that type of environment. And we do this by having a dedicated staff and parents who are willing to make sacrifices so that their children can reap the benefits of a Catholic Education.
